One thing you may not know is that among us small business holders, many of us have other jobs, past careers and different skill sets.  With this in mind our new blog will feature useful hints, tips and ideas to help you get through this difficult and unusual time we find ourselves in.

In each blog we'll be featuring a special guest who can offer some valuable advice or practical tips within their field of expertise. So to kick things off this week as a qualified nail technician I'll be showing you how you can remove your gel pedicure, for pretty feet that are flip flop ready!

Follow these steps below and your tootsies will thank you for it.

1. Break the top seal of polish by gently roughing the surface with a 100/180 grit buffer or nail file.

2. Soak a cotton pad with an acetone based nail polish remover, place onto nail, wrap securely in a square of tin foil and leave for 15 minutes.

3. Remove foil and using an orange stick gently push away any remaining gel. If it won't budge replace the cotton wool and foil and leave for a bit longer.  The gel should start to lift away from the nail, do not be tempted to scrape or pick it, be gentle to avoid damaging the nail plate.

4. Lightly buff the surface with a fine 200/280 grit buffer to remove any last traces of gel, and gently shape your toe nails.

5. Massage cuticle oil around the nail plate and under the free edge to moisturise the skin around the nail.  This is a good habit to get into, using cuticle oil on fingers and toes before bed will condition your nails and cuticles.

6. For a final treat give hard skin on your heels some attention with a course foot file, rinse thoroughly then slather with a rich foot cream.  For best results put on cotton socks and leave on overnight for silky smooth feet in the morning.

If you don't have any cuticle oil, coconut oil works well too and smells delicious, otherwise a rich body lotion is fine.

Follow the same steps above to remove finger nails too if required.

You should be able to find all these items in the beauty aisle of your local supermarket.

Now there's no excuse for tatty toes, get those beauties flip flop ready and bring on the sunshine!
